Grant Killian and Jill Peloquin, in concert with friends Jen and Dave Stanhope and Beth and Scott Lerberg, started Hampton Roads Adventure with one concept in mind: an authentic adventure race doesn't need to be far away or grossly expensive! These 3 couples, the original HRAdventure, organized their first race in 2004 and worked along with many committed businesses and individuals along the way to  promote a vibrant outdoor community in Virginia's southeast region. It was never a business, but always a labor of love and several races, now annual classics, trace their origins to those 3 years including the Spring Route (SPROUTE), the Tidewater Traverse (TT), and the Storm the Eastern Shore Adventure Race.

3 years, 10+ events and festivals, many new friends, and hundreds of miles of racing later . . . HRAdventure closed a chapter with the start of the 2007 year. Jill and Grant elected to move on to organizing adventures of a bigger scale with Untamed Adventure .


Mike Jones and Pam McKay have contributed their individual and team efforts to HRA since 2004 whether racing as Team HRA, assisting with course scouting, planning festivals or volunteering at races. Mike and Pam took charge of HRAdventure at the end of 2006 and are continuing the mission: Adventure Racing that is accessible and fun in Hampton Roads. The next chapter of HRAdventure begins . . .
