Price increase:
In just two days the registration price for the SPROUTE Adventure Race will be going up $10 per racer ($15 for soloists). Thats Right, Saturday April 3rd the prices will change. As of right now we have 19 teams registered. Don’t be one of the guys that had to pay extra! Register today: http://www.hradventure.com/?page_id=732
Race updates:
- Showers: Don’t want to drive home dirty? Don’t want to camp Saturday night dirty? The West View on the James Camp will be opening their showers to racers after the race!
- Mini O-course: I’ll be setting up a small (3-5 flags) O-Course for Friday night at the campsite. This will be good for newbies to verify their plotting abilities and basic map and compass use. If you plan on doing it, bring a headlamp.

SPROUTE Race Updates – Register Now!
March 28, 2010 by Chris · 3 Comments
I have some new SPROUTE race information for all of you:
- Normal registration has been extended until April 2nd at midnight. Prices increase by about $10 per racer on April 3rd. Register by April 15th to guarantee a race shirt.
- The Start/Finish line is in West View, Virginia. Google maps link of start/finish location and camping area: http://bit.ly/cCe4G1
- Race check-in will be available Friday night from 7PM-10PM at the Start/Finish location. Check-in is also available Saturday morning from 6am-7:30am for the 12 hour Sport race and from 8:30-10:30am for the 6 hour Sprint race. *** Maps and many UTMs will be given at race check-in. ***
- Boat drops will need to be made Saturday morning before race start, so getting your maps on Friday may help. Boat drop location will be made available a few days before the race so racers wanting to drop boats on the way to the Start line on Saturday morning can do so before arriving.
- Main race maps will be provided by MyTopo.com and will be fully gridded (1:24k scale). Madathlete.com will be providing UTM plotters to racers. Other map scales/quality will vary.
- Rental boats are available. http://www.hradventure.com/?p=878
- Boat restrictions: Boat requirements have changed a bit due to rental availability. In either race, you may use any (human paddle powered) 17′ boat (or boats) to suit your teams needs. We will still allow 17.9′ foot boats as the max length. The water is moving, and there are rocks out there so I wouldn’t recommend bringing your high $$ glass boats.
- Portage: Yes, there will be a portage in both events. No it won’t be ridiculously long.
Now get back to training
